Creation of 3D projection mapping model as a group:
Individual projection mapping content:
I was tasked with designing content inspired by South Africa, inclusivity and innovation. This content would then be projected onto the 3D model our group is designing and constructing.
I looked to the Artisans found in and near the Drakensberg mountains for inspiration. Drawing inspiration from the surrounding nature these artisans then craft clay model animals as a product to be sold to tourists visiting the mountains.
I started by developing the following Mood and Precedent board for my designs
The precedent board showcases the various use cases for projection mapping as a technology. I hope to use this to bring an innovative showcasing element to these artisans workflow. Through the use of projection mapping their products and creative process can be better showcased.
The mood board shows elements that will design the digital content I produce for projection mapping. Including images of the animals that are modelled by the artisans, the surrounding beautiful Drakensberg mountains and images of the artisans with their products.
Next I sketched my initial ideas for the content that I will be producing:
As sketched the photo collage will use the mountains as a background to be projected onto the hand, Layered over this background will be images of the products carefully cropped to fit the fold lines of the hand.
The GIF will be inspired by the animal models and will be a stop motion GIF of the animal model walking.
The Vector will be a combination of the different animal faces carefully edited together using the fold lines of the 3D model to act as borders between the different animals.
The video will showcase the creative process followed by the Artisans, starting with the surrounding scenery of the Drakensberg mountains. This will then be followed by video clips of the animals they use to inspire their clay models. Finally the last part of the Video will show these Artisans at work, creating their products.
